Frequently Asked Questions

How do we find the best flights?

Our favorite way to save on flights is to turn on the “price tracker” feature. This is available on most sites like Google Flights and Expedia. You will get a notification when the price increases or decreases!

What about the accommodations?

We will be spending the first night in Palermo, the capital of Sicily!

Check out our stay page for more info on this.

We will then arrange a transfer on Monday morning to our venue. The venue allows us exclusive use of the property - only our family & friends will be staying on property! We are so excited about this special place we know you all will fall in love with.

When should we be there?

On Sunday, September 21st we will have a welcome event in the evening, and the events will continue through the morning of September 24th. Check out our itinerary page for more info.

We then hope you take some time to explore everything Sicily has to offer. Check out our things to do page.

What’s the weather like this time of year?

It is still very much summer in mid-September, so expect warm days with hot sun & cooler evenings where a light jacket or sweater may be necessary.

What should I wear?

The dress codes are as follows

  • Welcome party: beach chic ~ it’s a yacht party!

  • The night before: la dolce vita ~ fun, vibrant colors, resort wear

  • Wedding day: formal ~ summer suits & cocktail/long dresses

    • LADIES!! Think cobblestone streets… stilettos are probably not the best choice :)

    • Bring comfortable walking shoes! We will be walking a bit around Palermo, and also to the village of Scopello.

What is Palermo like?

  • Palermo is certainly not your typical idea of an Italian city such as Florence, Rome, Venice, etc. It is a bit rough around the edges! It’s a bustling city, very busy and not the cleanest! That being said, we really enjoyed exploring Palermo. Be smart and stick to the tourist areas. We had no problems whatsoever. Be prepared to walk - and if you are driving, take your time… the drivers are a little crazy! If Rob can do it, so can you.

  • If you are driving to the accommodation, please contact the hotel on WhatsApp (+393515602458) for directions and parking information. They are very responsive!

  • Certain parts of the historic district in Palermo have restricted access by car, however the hotel can arrange a pass. You won’t need a car while you are in the city, unless you are doing a day trip out of Palermo.

How do I get from the venue if I don’t have a rental car?

  • We won’t have a rental car either! We will arrange a transfer to the airport after the festivities where you can pick up a rental car to explore Sicily, fly out, or take a taxi where you need to go.

What about rental cars?

If you fly into Palermo airport, you can taxi to the accommodation at your convenience, and we will have transfers arranged when necessary - you likely will not need a rental car during the festivities.

  • Palermo region is ~3 hr drive from Catania airport.

  • We recommend an automatic vehicle if you are not completely comfortable with manual - some roads and parking situations can be a bit questionable!

  • We previously rented a small SUV, automatic, hybrid for ~250 EUR for a week, which we thought was very reasonable.

  • Pay attention to where the rental car is picked up from - it may not be IN the airport terminal itself - ask around, people are friendly!

Can I take public transportation?

We have not used public transport in Sicily, however there are many trains and buses that can get you where you need to be for reasonable cost!

What about kids?

While we love all your little ones, we want you to relax and enjoy your time in Sicily. Please contact us if this is an issue.

Will I have a plus one?

All guests will be noted on the formal invitations. If you do not have an additional guest, please let us know and we may be able to accommodate depending on availability!

Should I take out cash?

Europe still frequently uses cash, however we do find ourselves using a credit card (with no foreign transaction fees) for most things. We always carry a little cash with us just in case.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly!
